Three great speaker at this event. We'll be back at our normal day, time and place for February's meeting. Let's fill the room! Please read through to the bottom to find out about the free giveaway only at this event.

First, we're going to welcome Jeff McDaniel from North American Savings Bank to talk about a new loan program for real estate investors. This program for residential lending is based solely on the performance of the property rather than the individual borrower. It offers competitive rates and a lot easier to get approved. Come hear Jeff explain how you can use this to build your rental portfolio.

Jeff started mortgage lending in 2005 for First Horizon Home Loans. Moved around to a couple banks till he landed at North American Savings Bank in 2009. He started buying properties in late 2011 primarily in the south KCMO area. Him and a business partner built up their rental portfolio to approx. 40 single family homes until they started selling a few in 2020. They currently still hold 33 homes. Jeff and his wife, Rae Ann,  have a Johnson County portfolio as well. They started by renting the homes they formerly occupied and have added several units over the years to their current number of five. They also own and operate a management company called Renters Choice KC where Rae Ann manages a bulk of their portfolio.

Next, we will get an update from our TALK leader Ed Jaskinia. As many of you know our group is a chapter member of The Associated Landlords of Kansas. We contribute $20 per member each year. TALK meets several times throughout the year and many other Landlord groups join in the conversation. Ed spends a ton of time in Topeka lobbying on our behalf and looking out for landlord's best interests. Kansas, as of now, is a very landlord friendly state, and TALK helps us keep it that way. Ed will share any new legislative updates as well and answer any questions. He always wants to hear about our concerns too so that he can make sure to keep an eye on anything that is brought up by lawmakers.

Lastly, we've invited Bob Coleman to give us an update on any tax law changes as well as answer your questions about how you can use real estate to save you money. At the beginning of the year everyone has to start thinking through what their tax situation looks like. It can at times be pretty overwhelming. Bob will help us sort through the most important strategies that can make a difference.

Bob Coleman has been a public accountant for 37 years. He specializes in real estate tax strategy.  Most of his clients are either landlords or real estate professionals. His 3 person staff provides support in the way of personal taxes, business taxes, payroll, and bookkeeping. They assist with business entity creation, such as LLC, partnerships, and S Corps.  Bob is an investor, and member of MAREI, Landlords of JoCo, Bridge Real Estate meetup, and several other groups. A list of GKC real estate meetings is available on his website, as well as several other tips and phone app utilities. He hosts an in-person (and Zoom) real estate meetup every Tuesday morning, near 105th & Metcalf, free to the public. He also offers a free, one hour consultation to get acquainted and brain storm with your questions. His office is located near I-35 and Shawnee Mission Parkway.

We will also be giving away 2 tickets to a weekend event with Robyn Thompson, the Queen of Rehab. The Undisputed Queen of Rehab (who is actually out there teaching people what she does) is Robyn Thompson. She has fixed and flipped over 400 houses since her first condo deal in Waterbury Connecticut while waiting for the axe from IBM. She is coming to Kansas City in February and you can go for free.

This meeting is free to all members and guests may attend one time for free as well. The only way we can keep this group going is to support it through your membership and attendance. Please support these speakers as they give up their valuable time to share their knowledge and expertise with us.

Refreshments will be provided. The room will be open around 5:30 so come early to network and find a seat. Reach out on our contact page with any questions.
