Q & A with the New County Chair

with... Mike Kelly

Mike Kelly is the new Johnson County County Commission chairperson. Please join us for a Q & A session to find out what's going on in 2023.

Wednesday, February 1, 2023 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Matt Ross Community Center
8101 Marty St Overland Park, KS 66204
This month we are inviting another Johnson County Commissioner to join us. Mike Kelly was just elected as the new chairperson. We are going to hear about him and what he has planned for 2023. Also, we will have a Q & A time that we will get to ask some of our burning questions regarding the housing industry in our communities. This is one you just can't afford to miss.

About Mike:
I was born and raised in Leawood and have lived in Johnson County my entire life. This is where my wife Elizabeth and I chose to make our home. We know this is a great place to live, run a business, and raise a family. None of that happens by accident. I am committed to continuing the tradition of service that has made Johnson County a premier county and am dedicated to working with residents to define our future. Together, we will continue creating a Johnson County we can all be proud of.
I have served as Mayor of Roeland Park since first being elected in November 2017. In 2019, I co-founded and currently serve as Chairman of Climate Action KC, a regional leader implementing best practices for reducing emissions, energy efficiency and natural conservation. I am Senior Counsel at Husch Blackwell, focusing on real estate, design, and construction litigation. I volunteer as an attorney with the Neighborhood Justice Center at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. As a kid, I attended Cure’ of Ars Catholic School where I earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. During my time at Rockhurst High School, I was captain of the football team and was named a High School All-America Rugby selection. Following family tradition, I attended Kansas State University and graduated with degrees in journalism and political science. I earned my law degree from University of Kansas and have passed the bar exam in both Kansas and Missouri. My wife Elizabeth and I live in Roeland Park with our dog Margot and two wonderful kids, 4-year-old Virginia and 1-year-old George.

After we chat with Mike we will hear from Jon and Stacy Bichelmeyer. The Bichelmeyers have a lot of experience in buying and selling real estate, rentals, marketing, rehabs, etc. They have been invited to share their knowledge with us. Please come and fill the room. It makes for a much better meeting.

Snacks will be provided. We will stream via Zoom, but the better experience will definitely be in person. Come early and stay late, but please don't miss this awesome opportunity to get your voice heard.
